Through the blessings of the Holy Spirit, and their passion and dedication, a group of parents who were never versed in stage performance managed to dance and sing their way to the applause of thousands in audience at the Chinese New Year dinner celebration in 2013.
The HRC Parents Group was formed in 2006 with the aim to connect the parents with each other and to strengthen their faith towards God. Currently there are about thirty members.
The parents will have their gathering at the same time as the Sunday school from 8:45am to 10am. While the children attend their classes, the parents and other church members participate in the various activities organised by the Parents Group; these include morning prayers, sharing of topics relating to faith and living, physical exercises, singing practice, and discussion about current affairs.
Beginning from last year, a devout church member Mrs Chia from SIC has been invited to share her “God in Life” series once a month with the parents. Apart from that, the Parents Group has also organised family day trips, Chinese New Year visits, Christmas lunch gatherings, pilgrimage to St. Anne’s Church etc.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our parish priest for his guidance, all the speakers who have shared their valuable knowledge, the past chairmen’s leadership, and the selfless service and sacrifice of all the committee and members. We hope there will be more married or single church members joining our group to learn and grow with us.
